Inspiring Transnational Training
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

AEVA – Associação para a Educação e Valorização da Região de Aveiro (Association for Education and Development of the Aveiro District) is a non-profit organization. It was founded in 1998, intervening in the education and development resources and it is the present owner of EPA – Escola Profissional de Aveiro – VET School of Aveiro, which began its activity in 1992. EPA acts at a regional level and its vocational training curricula aims to bridge business needs in the region defined in the yearly inquiry. EPA provides nowadays training for 1204 students in apprenticeship courses (744 trainees in level IV and 336+124 trainees in level II, in Vocational and Education and Training courses, respectively), in the different technical Level II and IV curricula. AEVA has a large number of students with special needs, learning and behaviour problems. With this project, AEVA-EPA wants to contribute to the further development of its staff, so it can advance in delivering even better educational and guidance services. A group of 14 staff members (from board, staff, pshchologists, special education, sociologists, teachers, trainers, tutors, etc.) will participate in a wide set of training courses. These will all focus on learner centered and strength based approaches, namely: narrative and appreciative approaches, question techniques to a better leadership, dialogue methods to address the power of social discourses, entrepreneurial education and much, much more. As a result of this, the whole organisation will be better in running their educational services, where the starting point will be the learner (as the learner is the expert on his/her own life) and learning will be better contextualised (in the context of the learners' lives). This form of learning is, in three words, more respectful, empowering and sustainable.
