Insieme: Let's change Let's exchange!
Start date: Sep 1, 2016, End date: Dec 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

In recent years, Europe had to face a growing migration crisis and therefore had to cope with more and more requests for help from people escaping war or poverty. However, the general tendency seems unfortunately to be the refusal and the fear towards who comes from other countries and brings along a different culture. We deeply believe that these problems can be resolved through solidarity and dialogue, and not with the closure of borders. Using the right tools, we think it is possible to understand the causes of the various migrations and to consequently find valid solutions for both Europe and the countries from which people flee. This exchange project has been written to meet the needs of some young people from the Aosta Valley who would like to sensitize their community on the reception of refugees in the region. We have chosen to involve 3 partners coming from Serbia, Germany and Greece who, like us, wish to improve society by fighting prejudice and hatred. Given their direct involvement in the migration issue, it would be therefore a great opportunity to share interesting points of view on these matters. The exchange will last 6 days exept 2 travel days (from October, 3rd to October, 8th 2016) and will be held in the town of Saint Marcel, a few kilometres from Aosta. 5 young people (+1 group leader) from each country will be selected, based on their interest in the subject and on their desire to get involved and learn about new cultures. The main goals that we want to achieve with this project are:- to allow the participants to feel comfortable with the other participants in an atmosphere of exchange and discussion;- to reflect on prejudices and stereotypes;- to explore fears and concerns in the encounter with “the other”;- to analyse and learn more about social and political situations in the world;- to understand individual and national motivations to the emigration;- to facilitate and explore new common solutions and innovative methods.During the week, participants will take part in various activities that will improve their understanding of the world. They will become more aware of their way of being and of the interaction between themselves and other people. Mainly non-formal approach methods will be used and much time will be devoted to group discussion and reflection. Moreover, we will involve in our activities some asylum seekers in order to directly interact and understand the personal history of those trying to improve their life in another country. At the end of the week the participants:- will acquire more awareness about their thought;- will have the necessary instruments to the understanding of the migratory phenomenon that interests Europe nowadays;- will be more confident and will express their ideas more easily in front of others;- will understand the importance of intercultural dialogue;- will receive the YouthPass in order to have a certification of the skills acquired through the exchange;- will be ready to carry out new projects and activities in their countries of origin.
