Start date: Dec 31, 2014, End date: Dec 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Project “Innovative technologies for reducing energy consumption in food production – the requirement of modern Europe” was implemented by the National Centre for Agricultural Education in Brwinów, in partnership with DELUA Nienburg in Germany. The project was adressed to teachers of vocational subjects (theoretical and practical training) in secondary schools teaching the professions for which the minister responsible is the minister for agriculture, rural development, agricultural and fisheries markets, in accordance with the Order of the Minister of National Education of 23 December 2011 on the classification of professions of vocational education. The main objective of the project was obtaining by the 40 teachers of vocational education the knowledge about innovative technologies and managing systems used in Germany for limiting energy consumption in food production and to familiarize them with the methods of moulding social attitudes conducive to energy saving. In case of Polish agriculture the improvement of energetic efficiency is a priority, as compared to the countries of Western Europe agri-food production is much more energy-intensive. In this situation it was necessary to search for solutions for improving the energetic efficiency, what is one of the conditions to increase the competitiveness of the Polish economy and is conducive to respect for the environment. During two weeks of training participants learned about technological and organizational solutions limiting energy consumption in food production used in Germany. It was important to know the methods of transferring knowledge and to instill them in students - future farmers and workers of agri-food sector, attitudes conducive to energy saving. After returning from mobility, participants shared experiences and knowledge to other teachers from schools in which they work and to the students during the lessons. Main project activity was based on foreign mobility of teachers, focused on the gaining of knowledge and exchange of experiences. Teachers stayed at the DEULA Nienburg vocational training centre in Germany. During the stay, teachers participated in seminars, observed classes, analyzed pedagogical documentation. Project activities were implemented through a two-week stay of teachers in the vocational training centre - two groups of 20 people. Duration of mobilities resulted from the complexity of the topic and the program: direct examination of the specifics of German farms and companies operating in processing industry, agricultural production, horticulture. Before leaving, was a recruitment for each group. After the recruitment, participants received a proposal for the training program, for which they could submit comments and expectations. During the seminar for preparation to the training, participants defined their interests and expectations regarding training. They also made the devision of tasks, agreed on the scientific issues, which they decided to develop during the visit and finish after returning. The choice of the partner from Germany was motivated by a high degree of technological advancement in the field of energy efficiency in this country and a high level of social awareness in this subject in German society. Choosing as a partner the DEULA Nienburg vocational training centre stems from our experience in a long term cooperation that guaranties high quality and reliability of the project. The partner institution is experienced in conducting vocational training, is also able to organize study trips to German farms and companies of processing products, what will help to examine similarities and differences in the training systems and methods of shaping the appropriate attitudes among pupils - in Poland and Germany. The material products of this project (set of informative and teaching materials, program of educational activities) are used by the participants in ongoing learning activities, and are also available free of charge to all interested. Materials are downloadable free of charge from the website of the National Center for Agricultural Education in Brwinów. The supreme value in the project are declarations of training participants that they will prepare educational projects for students in their schools. Action within this project, as well as the results produced were disseminated in many scientific conferences and seminars, including international, with participation of representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Foundation for the Development of the Education System.
