Innovative Approaches to Teaching and Learning

1. This school is a rural village school in the north west of Ireland making an application for the Head Teacher to attend a training course in the Czech Republic. 2. The objective of this project is to learn new innovative teaching methods which will be used to include pupils from other European countries and to integrate pupils with special needs who are already enrolled in the school. 3. One person, the Head Teacher of the school is making this application to commence involvement with European training for teachers. 4. The activity in question is attendance at a 5 day training course in Prague in August 2016.5. The teacher will attend classes which will focus on multi-cultural learning, differentiated learning, modern trends in assessment and the use of ICT.6. As a result of this training the Head Teacher will train the school staff on the material presented at the course. She will also host an evening in the local teacher education center which provides training for teachers in primary, secondary schools and third level settings in 3 counties in the north west of Ireland - Roscommon, Leitrim and Longford. 7. The potential longer term benefits are that teachers will learn new innovative methods in teaching and learning and that other teachers in this area of Ireland will become involved in taking part in European training courses funded by the EU.
