Innovation Transfer in Textiles

KLITRA Limited had successfully led in two major Pilot Projects under the Leonardo da Vinci programme. The projects developed 4 ICT based tools to support learning in Dyeing, Finishing, Garment technologies, Hosiery Production and Carpet manufacture. This project took forward, adapt and update the existing tools and to expand their coverage within Europe to new partner countries (Greece, Latvia, Portugal, Romania and Slovenia).Aims and ObjectivesThe aims and objectives of the project were to: research into the current vocational textile qualifications in new the partner countries and the materials available to satisfy the learning requirement of those qualifications; Adapted and updated the tools; Involved potential users in testing the adapted tools; Developed a project website; Translated the materials into the partner languages; Promoted Equal Opportunities within the textiles sector; Disseminated and transfered the results of the project within each partner country; Undertook evaluation and valorisation of the project.Characteistic of partnershipThis new partnership brings together KLITRA Limited (the lead sectoral body for knitting and lace manufacture in the UK) with educational institutes from five new countries. KLITRA are run on a tripartite basis with board representatives from trade unions, employers and training bodies. The educational institutes from the new countries all have a significant role in textile training and development within their country. Leeds University Media Innovations Limited adds the necessary ICT and software expertise to help the partnership update and adapt the training tools developed.
