Innovation: a Challenge for the Future.

CONTEXT. Located in Bosa, Sardinia, School includes several addresses: classical, scientific, technical, vocational services -restaurants and hotel accommodation; vocational for agriculture; also has a boarding school and a small farm.The economy of Bosa is in very bad conditions, mostly depends on tourism. There has always been a strong migration process from Bosa to the North of Italy and Europe because of the chance of finding jobs in industry sectors. Our school is in the urban part and many students are coming from socioeconomically disadvantaged background and small suburban areas. Many teachers have been working for years in this school, and need to deal with other realities, in Europe and in the World, to compare their methodological approach to teaching and renew their experiences of work and life. Our school is involved in many transnational activities, but a problem still exists, both for teachers and students: communication in a foreign language and computer skills. Through this project will begin a process of renewal, to experience a variety of cultures and languages; to acquire new skills, learn foreign languages, renew their concept of Europe, raise their social and cultural awareness and develop their ICT skills, to exchange pedagogical methods and strategies. OBJECTIVES: To improve: Management and Staff competences; new teaching methods; language competences and curriculum, the organization of teaching and learning. To modernizing and internationalizing the school' mission. We need to know the expanding field of teaching and learning methods; analyze and compare teaching methodologies; take the ‘learning to learn’ paradigm seriously; examine the EU’s changing educational context and its challenges; know a series of case studies on some of the most-used innovative teaching tools such as simulation games, E-learning, problem based learning, blended learning, and learning through the use of social networks; examine both strengths and possible pitfalls of these increasingly popular methods; build a critical approach that can inspire educators to improving the teaching methods and tools in the area of European Studies.ACTIVITIES: Through job shadowing experiences and structured courses, training events abroad we would like to compare, on a European scale, the following teaching methods:- 'learning to learn' paradigm; Distance learning; E-learning; ES courses; European Union studies, - Learning theory and innovation; Network of European Studies; Problem-based learning; Simulation games;Teaching methodologies; Teaching practices; Virtual teaching units; blended learning Interdisciplinary curricula; knowledge - based learning; particularly CLIL methodology.METHODOLOGY: Participants have been identified among those who: showed interest in the activities specified in the project; are highly motivated, have the basics in order to benefit from the experience abroad; have a spirit of cooperation and do to work in team; According to the jobs they do at school and their ability to socialize the experiences; In accordance with their training needs and skills; Based on the needs and strategic objectives of the School.NUMBER AND PROFILE OF PARTECIPANTS are totally fifteen, for a job shadowing experience, structured course/cultural events and training. By participants, the main competences and skills that must to be acquired/improved include: managerial skills and human resource management; Staff competences, new teaching methods, communication in foreign languages, digital competence, cultural awareness and expression, sense of initiative and entrepreneurship; social and civic competences, spirit of cooperation and ability to work in team. DURATION: 24 months.RESULTS AND IMPACT: project will have a major impact on: Staff, teachers, students, parents, school and local community; especially for those teachers who never have the opportunity to contact and meet foreign teachers, or travel to another country with a different culture and daily life. This certainly will open their horizons. People will share with each other the different reality they experienced; they will develop skills for fast adaptability to a new lifestyle. Teachers and then student together can have an improvement in social and communication skills, developing creativity, innovation, flexibility, empathy, autonomy, responsibility. The change in teaching and learning will create better relationships. DISSEMINATION. All will work to make accessible the results of the European experience in a space as wide as possible especially through the Etwinning to spread good practice and make it permanently available the wealth of experience gained, in a time that will be much longer than the duration of the projectLONG TERM BENEFITS: Better results in school performance of students, reducing rates of early school leaving, new and innovative curricula and teaching methods, modernization and internationalization of the mission of the school.
