Innovaatiosta iloa opetukseen ja oppimiseen
Start date: Sep 1, 2014, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school, Pietarsaaren lukio , is a small upper secondary school with about 120 students and 13 teachers, and we want to survive the competition among the small schools in Finland. The students have very different backgrounds and the groups are really heterogeneous. We would like to continue good work in international projects since we have already had 2 Comenius projects and now we are going to start the 3rd one (KA2) next autumn. There will probably be 4 teachers as applicants and we will have the greatest possibility to develop ourselves and adopt new, innovative teaching methods through job shadowing and different courses. What´s more, the countries and people involved in job shadowing will be the same as in KA2 project, so this will deepen our relationship, the understanding of different cultures and curricula and hopefully create deeper bond between the teachers enabling us to create new ways of co-operation and projects in the future. In addition, through this project we hope to increase our work motivation, develop our language skills and cultural knowledge but, most importantly, we would like to find new, innovative teaching methods and help students, also those with learning difficulties, to find their own strengths and best learning methods, improve and diversify their usage of IT, and increase students´ innovativeness in general. When planning and during the project we will keep in touch through email, Facebook and eTwinning, and hopefully this project will also improve our IT skills. At the end of the project we will be even more international, inspiring, innovative and motivated teachers, who will have the courage to develop themselves in the future too. Because of the small size of our school it will be easy to share the knowledge and experiences with colleagues and encourage them to take part in projects in the future. Some of the teachers also teach in comprehensive school so it will be easy to share the experiences there as well. Through these two projects (KA1 and KA2) our small school has the greatest opportunity to raise its profile as an international, inspiring and innovative school.
