Initier Former dans un Environnement Européen
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project that L P Paul Bert presented caught the attention of the commission and we are very pleased with our first European experience. As proof of this we have put together a new project for the period 2016-2118, a project that has also been accepted. The motto of the college is “The Tradition of Innovation”. It has, once again, proved to be appropriate. The desire to see the European Section succeed and realise its wish to work with our Spanish neighbours has been crowned by success. Geographic neighbours, connected by twinning, Bayonne and Pamplona are two towns that share a rich history as well as an attractive commercial dynamism. All that remained was to find an establishment willing to be our partner. With the help of the services of the Rectorat of Bordeaux and the DAREIC (Delegation Académique aux Relations Européennes Internationales et à la Cooperation), we have now succeeded and l”Insitut Maria Ana Sanz (MAS) gave us their support coupled with their knowledge of the area. They gave us access to companies who could help finding the contacts we needed to find host families in September 2014. Thus, we were able to reserve places and send ten students, five each year, for a Period of Training in an Occupational Environment for three weeks. In 2014 it was the students in the European section who were preparing for a Vocational High School diploma. They took it successfully in 2015 and we witnessed the first Europasses awarded to our college. In the autumn of 2015 the five students who benefitted from this opportunity were in Year 1. They needed motivating to put themselves forward for the high school diploma session in 2017 with the “mobility” distinction. The ten pupils were able to adapt and take complete advantage of these three weeks, gaining confidence in themselves, in particular in their ability to be understood and to build up relationships in their a language other than their mother tongue. Both the Spanish and Commerce teachers saw their efforts rewarded. This project had mobilised their energy since the creation of the European section two years previously. The activities completed by the students correlated to the requirements of the business reference table and are developed in the following pages. Concerning the mobility of the teachers one of the two accorded was taken by the teaching information officer who co-ordinated this project. This opportunity allowed her to widen her professional culture, to meet teachers in MAS and also those of the Institute of Baranain that borders to city of Pamplona. There was collaboration with the mediatique de Navarre and in particular the library of Barain. In fact, she was able to develop her ability to communicate in Spanish. She took part in a study during the week participating in different “tertulia libros” that were presented in the report appearing in the appendix. Having no counterpart as a teaching information officer in the Spanish establishment this was quite challenging. As mentioned higher up, the results, that we initially hoped, for were achieved by the first pupils who had participated in the programme and they obtained their European Vocational High School Diploma with distinction. They gained their Europass. This year the pupils in year 1 showed by their seriousness, their implication, and their satisfaction on returning from these three weeks that they had found all the elements necessary to motivate them to work hard towards their future success in the high school diploma session 2017. The objectives seem to have been reached because when we needed to prepare a new dossier the commerce teaching team all wanted to offer this opportunity not only to 10 pupils but to 20. They wanted to recruit not only from the pupils of the commerce section but also the ARCU (Accueil Relation Clients Usagers). In co-operation with our partner the MAS institute we need to find new places on the training course.
