Information and Communication Technologies as a Force for Change

The aim of the project is to learn how to use ICT to overcome our own barriers in education - teaching and learning as well - and to foster communication among people with special needs. The project created an open virtual space where users could contribute and communicate with other participants motivating them to develop their ICT and language skills and to use them for learning.Aspects of the project: * Use of ICT for learning and teaching* Sharing of good practices in ICT and personal experiences* Direct involvement of people with special needs and their tutors and staff* Self evaluation of the participants used as a learning tool to increase self-awareness and appreciation of their life capabilities* Daring to share experiences with their peers in different countries and social groups, opened a new perspective for them, increasing their motivation for self development* Communication was effectively based on the wiki and a database webspace usage as tools for sharing stories, tricks, comments and a tutor-boxProducts: * Online database – place for sharing even after project completion;* Online, offline and printed version of the Handbook ICT Bridges Stories in English – a compendium of stories and tricks – ISBN 978-80-248-2245-7*Virtual workspace for communication a) of the project team (http://handicap.vsb.cz), b) of peer learning (Tutor Box: http://studiumbezbarier.eu/ictbridges/)* Leaflets* Conference – held in Ostrava with participants with the main role going to participants special needs from the partner countries* Publication “Social Networking – Proceedings of International Conferences” – ISBN: 978-80-248-2117-7Monitoring was carried out for dissemination, evaluation, and sustainability.The project was carried out by partners from: The Czech Republic, Spain, Austria and Romania.
