The goal of the project is to make rehabilitation plans for oxbows (old river meanders) of the Tisza, located along the Tisza river section from Szeged to Szenta (12.5km including border section), in order to reduce contamination and protect the water base and surface waters, in line with the EU Water Framework Directive. Along with the preparation of a licensed development plan, the applicants propose a public information and education campaign in order to preserve Tisza river oxbows, as well as the establishment of long-term cross-border cooperation between the relevant institutions.
