Inclusion through new media
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

“Inclusion through new media” is a longterm EVS project involving one volunteer from Slovenia. He will be part of the Italian organization Videocommunity for one year (6. 6. 2016 - 5. 6. 2017). Videocommunity is an organization that deals mainly with youth from socially disadvantaged backgrounds, approaching and educating them with the means of new media and film art. The volunteer will actively cooperate in various projects (screenings, workshops, filming, etc.) that will help him broaden his knowledge in the field of audio-visual arts, youth work and working with different social groups. The project will enable the volunteer to familiarize with independent film production and thus as an independent filmmaker. Being involved in various educational activities the volunteer will also gain additional competences for youth work. This will increase his employment opportunities in the field of audio-visual communication, where the technical knowledge is often interwoven with pedagogical capabilities. Additionally, being active in one of the European junctures will enable the volunteer to gain many new contacts (in non-governmental, governmental and private sectors), enabling him to use the acquired knowledge to create new European projects of social inclusion. The added value of the project will be all videos and films produced that will be created during of the project – those created as a part of the activities of the hosting organization, as well as individual ones – as they will spread the problematic theme of social inclusion as wide as possible through Internet publications via specially designed web portal and festivals.
