Improving youth work at local level through cross-sectorial cooperation

Training course brought 32 youth workers, municipality youth issue coordinators, specialists working with youth in other institutions at municipal level (local level) from 6 countries from 2th to 9th of October, 2015 in Kekava, Latvia. Project created space to learn how to develop cross-sectorial cooperation networks and improve efficiency of youth policy implementation at local level. Provided space to share youth situation and youth policy implementation good practices in various European countries. AIMS OF THE TRAINING COURSE WERE: Developed competences (skills, knowledge and attitudes) and provided tools to youth workers and specialist dealing with youth issues how to foster and implement cross-sectorial cooperation and create cooperation structures in their realities at local level. THE OBJECTIVES OF THE TRAINING COURSE: 1. Provided participants with knowledge on cross-sectorial cooperation in the youth policy field. 2. Shared and developed tools for cross-sectorial cooperation and known good examples from different countries in Europe. 3. Learnt how to use tools to analyze youth situation and realities at local level and prepare youth policy improvement plans. 4. Created space to develop future actions / project at local and international level aiming to foster cooperation in the youth policy field and improve youth situation. Promoted Eramsus + program. 5. Created manual on cross-sectorial cooperation in the youth policy field. 6. Created space for future Erasmus + projects development and ensuring the quality of the projects through developing common understanding of Youth project quality criteria: non-formal education; During this training course, municipal youth coordinators, municipal specialist on youth issues (civil servants) and youth representatives, youth leaders and youth workers from Italy, Romania, Lithuania, Latvia, Turkey and Poland came from various regions improved their competencies in following areas: cross-sectorial cooperation, developing regional youth policy, researching youth situation, active involvement of youth in decision-making, advocacy and effective representation; got acquainted with the national and European youth policy frameworks and opportunities they provide; expanded international network and learn how to build alliances around different issues; improved communication and advocacy; public speaking and media work competencies; shared and learnt individually and in the group; found instruments to bring needed changes to improve youth policy in their municipalities. At the end of the training program we developed cross-sectorial cooperation standard for youth policy implementation at local level and created a manual on cross-sectorial cooperation in youth policy field.
