IMPROVING PATIENT MANAGEMENT AT HEALTH CENTRES WITH THE USE OF MODERN TECHNOLOGIES

This project concerns managing diseases at primary health care level with the use of high technology. The project will help improve the quality of services provided with the use of clinical protocols and guidelines integrated into the smart electronic file of patients, to be used by the medical and nursing staff at Health Centres. Expected Results: It involves the development and application of a software capable of issuing reminders and assisting the user, with built-in clinical protocols for the management of certain diseases. It forms part of an intervention programme designed to improve the management of a patients health problems and the ongoing training of health care personnel. It is based on a previous collaboration between the University of Crete and the Ministry of Health of Cyprus and also on the know-how acquired by the Social and Family Medicine Clinic of the University of Crete on software development applications in cooperation with the General Medicine Department of the University of Amsterdam, Holland.
