Start date: Feb 29, 2012,

Protecting the natural heritage is not possible without the cooperation of neighbouring countries, as political borders are not ecological barriers. This is also true in case of the Körös-Maros National Park and the Cefa Nature Park. The main aim of the current application is to harmonize the conservation efforts of the two parks, and to enable cooperation on a daily basis. The activities encompass the common development of ecotourism (common development plan, information signs, publications), common bio-monitoring (Great Bustard protection, waterfowl surveys), and the promotion of knowledge exchange (conference, workshops, and study trips). The general objective of the project is to preserve the natural values of the 13 000 hectares large trans boundary protected area by improving cross-border characters.Target groups: the professional staff of the two participating National Parks, nature conservation specialists working in the region (i.e. NGOs, nature conservation authorities), the municipalities and wider public of settlements in the region. The total number of professionals of the two National Parks is approx. 45 people; other professionals constitute another 20-30 persons.
