Improvement of the vocational education according to the needs of labour market (VocEdu)

Project idea is aimed at improvement of vocational education through curricula improvements, by involving industry associations, enterprises and stakeholders related to vocational education. Project cross-border experience exchange and joint events will support professional and personal growth of students and teachers; promotional activities will serve for the improvement of image of vocational schools and attract more students to obtain vocational education. Improvements made for the practical training equipments for the vocational schools will provide students with skills and competences, required by labour market and will also support further cooperation among the vocation schools on both sides of border in relation to exchange and placements, and upgrade of teachers' skills. Objective of project is to facilitate development of vocational education according to the needs of labour market and to ensure increase of students in vocational education establishments in border areas through provision of qualitative and competitive vocational education Sub-objectives of project are: (1) To develop and strengthen cooperation between vocational schools and labour market in field of curricula improvement and practical placements; (2) To increase qualification of teachers through site visits to enterprises, joint cross border meetings, trainings and master classes; (3) To improve practical training equipment in order to meet labour market demands for the qualified workforce; (4) To promote vocational education and to increase prestige of vocational education Project covers 16 partners -12 vocational schools, 3 regional development organisations and 1 higher education establishment. Project activities will cover Kurzeme region, Jelgava City and surroundings, Utena, Panevežys, Telšai, Klaipeda, Kaunas and Šiaulia regions, 12 vocational schools (5LV/7LT) will benefit from project results directly through increased qualification of teachers and trainees, improved curricula, equiped practical training laboratories with modern teaching technics and promoted vocational education possibilities within regions.As a result of the project entrepreneurs will receive more qualified workforce in agriculture, car transport, textile, building, public catering, energetics, and metalworks industries. Expected Results: Research and Cooperation model between the vocational schools and labour market will be elaborated. Cooperation model will serve as guidelines for schools to strengthen interaction with enterprises and to ensure that obtained education is in line with needs of labour market. As a result of trainings of practice supervisors, guidlines will be elaborated for the use of enterprise' practice supervisors, around 10-15 pages practical hints on "How to foster trainee?". Established contacts between the schools in LV and LT crossborder area will contribute to further cooperation projects, aiming to increase competitivness and competence of trainees - future workforce. Reconstructed Energy saving centre in Kaunas Builders Training centre - 250 m2. In 12 vocational schools will be improved practical trainings infrustructure and created laboratories, teaching equipment, classrooms, which will serve for the obtaining skills and competences, which are in line with the demands of labour market
