Improvement of Psychosocial Work by Creating Partnership between Social Services (Social Support)

The partnership between Social services of Rundale Local Municipality (LV), Iecava Local Municipality (LV) and Pakruojis Distric Municipality (LT) will be created within the planned project. At this moment on both sides of Latvia and Lithuania is formed similar social-economic situation, increasing number of unemployed persons who needs not only social help (financial support), but also psychosocial help, which includes - social consultations, negotiations, motivation, psychosocial support, giving advices and information where to get help. The increased number of social risk persons creates extra amount of work for social workers, causing psychological stress which causes emotional burnout. This situation requires increasing qualification of social workers and getting extra experience, acquiring new, innovative methods of psychosocial work with social risk persons, to ensure preventive work. Late social risk persons' demand for social help is attributed to the lack of information about offered social help, social institutions and available social infrastructure, what prolongs person's situation of crisis. The main objective: to improve psychosocial work with social risk persons, developing partnership among project partners' social services. Sub-objectives: (1) to promote social workers' cooperation and experience exchange in order to improve the quality of social services; (2) to increase the quality of existing social services and develop new social services; (3) to develop qualitative psychosocial work with social risk persons, introducing and acquiring social workers' with innovative psychosocial work methods; (4) to encourage the social risk persons to recognize self resources to cope the situation of crisis; (5) to improve awareness about available social services and infrastructure. It is planned to acquire appropriate equipment for social centers and carry out repair of training premises and crisis rooms for social risk persons. Expert consultations, trainings summer school events for social risk persons will facilitate motivation and provide basic knowledge and life-skills (communications, crafts). Unified standards will be published in guidelines with innovative methods about psychosocial work with social risk persons. Conclusion conference will help to spread out good praxis and innovative methods, acquired within the project, promote the achieved results. The acquired innovative methods and shared cross border experience will promote social workers' professionalism, will broaden contacts, ensure the background for improvement of social services' quality. During common events for social risk persons, cross border communities will get closer; sharing similar problems and solutions of different situations will give extra motivation for social risk persons. Expected Results: Guidelines, 500 ex (A5, ~ 150 pages; hard cover, colourfull, offset printing, LV, LT lang.) guidelines for social workers, summarizing gained experience within the project, innovative methods of psychosocial work with social risk persons. Planned to be presented and spread out during project closing conference. Preparing and publishing organized by LP; organized 4 work group meetings to discuss concept of planned publication partners' project coordinators, social work managers, external experts (at Rundale). Book, 700 ex, A5, hard cover, colourfull, offset printing; organized by PP3 Information about social help, social infrastructure, consultations etc available in Pakruojis district municipality. Gathered best praxis, success stories of persons coping with crisis situations. Target group: social risk persons of Pakruojis district municipality; spread out at social institutions of Pakruojis District Municipality. Project will give a positive impact on Latvia-Lithuania border region (territories of project partners: Rundale and Iecava Local Municipalities, Pakruojis District Municipality), ensuring improved social services for social risk persons, and developing preventive psychosocial work by qualified social workers, thus creating preconditions to increase amount of social risk persons, who are motivated to cope with crisis situation.
