Improvement, Introduction and Harmonisation of Occupational Standards in the NEU. European Qualifications in the Fashion and Beauty Sector.

The project sets out to develop a standardised European qualifications portfolio in Fashion and Beauty. An analysis of occupational standards and assessment methods in the Fashion and Beauty sector will be undertaken by the project partners with the aim of identifying 'best practice'. This information will inform the development of a ‘qualifications and quality assurance framework’ able to meet the needs of the project partners. A portfolio will be developed containing four core modules in hairdressing, tailoring, beauty therapy and image design, with different partners adopting a lead role in the development of individual modules. Feedback will be sought from SMEs in the Fashion and Beauty industries to ascertain the suitability of each module as it is developed. Project partners will further establish training programmes for specialists able to deliver training in the use of the modules to personnel in selected training institutions. A pilot training programme will take place in the selected institutions and will include a quality assurance evaluation exercise. The developed training modules, in addition to a quality assurance manual and an administrators’ guide will be made available via the project website and in printed form. The City and Guilds project partner, along with the LT co-ordinator, will play a prominent role in disseminating the project results, for which use will be made of the project website and of a series of project leaflets and printed articles.
