Implementing Standards for European e-Tutor Training

The project will define a core curriculum and quality standards for European e-tutor training and/or training of trainers that can be applied in different national contexts to different user groups. The project will meet the demand for standardised e-tutor training/training of trainers and corresponding skills transparency. Building on the curriculum for e-tutor training that was developed in a previously funded Leonardo project, the project will develop a common core curriculum for Europe-wide e-tutor training/training of trainers. Country-based project teams will develop their own training curriculum. A transnational meeting of the project partners will agree a common core curriculum, based on each of the partners' suggestions, which will be accompanied by training guidelines. The training curriculum will be developed into manageable and practical learning courses, which will be adapted for use in each of the partner countries. The Finnish partner will establish a web portal for a database containing all project material. The database will contain information about different countries' training models and a manual showing how to use this material. The portal will also function as a dissemination tool and intranet communication link between the project partners. English will be used as the main language for the communication of project outputs. On the basis of the agreed core curriculum and course guidelines, e-tutor training courses and/or training of trainer courses will be planned and piloted in the partner countries. Piloting will be with a group of 10-20 e-tutors or e-tutor trainers in each country. The guidelines for training will be refined following feedback from the pilots. A transnational evaluation committee will oversee the project's development of quality standards.
