Implementing Creative strategies into Science Teaching

Creativity with a capital “C”, the kind which changes the way we see or understand the world, never occurs on its own, but rather as part of an encouraging system: Culture, Creativity and Curiosity (C3) create a capacity to innovate. C3 introduces young Europeans to the guidance of the experienced but encourages unfettered novelty. It is precisely the enrichment of the creative elements in Science Education on a wealth of existing European knowledge, which is the cornerstone of the CREATIT project. CREATIT aims to develop and support late primary and early secondary teachers' skills in science education by integrating in science other creative and cultural disciplines (from music & theater) & social media tools in formal education systems constructing the main core of a new pedagogical methodology; the CREATIT pedagogical framework. The project will focus on teacher education–in-service-by implementing teaching practices under the combination of creative case studies with other creative disciplines and social media tools that can be utilized for educational purposes, so as to bring the worlds of science, culture and technology closer under the umbrella of collaborative activities. The CREATIT project will create a workable methodology for designing, communicating and representing creative Science Education approaches for late primary and early secondary schools in science education, combining also project based method, and elaborate a series of teachers’ trainings, demonstration activities at schools and develop training material and user’s communities. Teachers will utilize the tools & learning scenarios, so as to demonstrate the CREATIT learning material into their classrooms enhancing basic and transversal skills of primary and secondary students by participating in collaborative, project based activities,during which they will organize science cafe, science theaters and write science operas . CREATIT is combining Science, Creativity&Technology.
