Implementierung des Spanischen als neue Fremdsprache an unserer Schule
Start date: Jun 26, 2014, End date: Jun 25, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Ostseegymnasium Timmendorfer Strand, a public grammar school with about 750 pupils and 65 teachers situated in the school district of Ostholstein in the land of Schleswig-Holstein is planning on further broadening its language offer. So far it disposes of English, French and Latin. It has started offering Spanish with one fully-qualified Spanish teacher in September 2013. On the one hand the Ministry of Education of the land Schleswig-Holstein represented by the IQSH (institution for teacher qualification) allowed the school to designate two further teachers with teaching permissions other than Spanish to improve their Spanish (acquired in private language courses or while living in a Spanish-speaking country) and grants them two lessons per week for the study of the language. On the other hand it demands that the school disposes of at least two fully-qualified teachers of Spanish without giving any further financial support. One teacher (subjects: English and French) would like to spend one month in Spain to improve her language skills in order to be able to pass the DELE diploma required by the Ministry of Education. After successfully completing the course the IQSH will assist the lessons and then evaluate if the teacher can be given the permission to teach according to IQSH regulations. The grammar school wishes to expand its "language repertoire" to open up to the Spanish-speaking world and make this part of Europe accessible to its pupils, thus promoting the linguistic and cultural variety of Europe. In the future a school exchange with schools in Spain is planned as well as the creation of an extra-curricular course "Prepartion for DELE". Additionally, the OGT wants to further develop its already existing school exchanges with France and Italy (both French and Italian-speaking parts). It is very interested in cultural and linguistic exchange. We are very happy to have among us a French language assistant who enriches our school life. We would like to emphasize that we really want to support the idea of language and cultural variety in Europe by cooperating between the different language departments as this "is lived" in the European Union.
