Implementation of European Guidelines for Joining Technology Training

The training and qualification in areas of joining technologies like plastic welding, in the field of manufacturing technologies is presently done in each country on a "national" level. The systems implemented in each country differ from country to country as some are technologically more advanced than others, promoting the creation of differences between industrial sectors working in these areas within the European region. This situation is disadvantageous in today's competitive market, leading to the creation of barriers to the mobility of professionals in Europe. Disables not only a higher number of qualified persons but also the development of the referred technological areas. The facts, briefly described above, show how important it is to implement a harmonized training and qualification courses system in the joining techniques areas already mentioned, which are particular to various industrial sectors as e.g. gases and fluid distribution and domestic appliances. These areas are becoming crucial in the development of new joined structures and in the need of adaptation of the traditional processes to new technologies. Aiming at enlarging the implementation of common directives, the main objective of the present project is to adapt and promote an harmonised professional qualification based on EWF Guidelines in the area of plastic joining. At the present, the industry of these techniques grows in around 15%/year, what clearly indicates the need of having a common qualification system effectively implemented. Therefore, this project intends to promote the qualification in this area by promoting a common training guideline and by organising a pilot training course in the consortium countries. The transfer of experience and results of TRAINING-LAB, a successful LDV project coordinated by ISQ, will be an incontestable added value to the EU-JOINTRAINING development. The TRAINING-LAB designed, developed and tested a new, flexible and multifunctional training environment. This includes also the needed training methodologies, techniques and instruments, which support the learning process. Furthermore the project took into consideration the trainers’ needs to monitor and guide the learning process when working in such an environment.
