Immersion Courses in Scotland for Teachers of English
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The course "Immersion Courses in Scotland for Teachers of English"; takes place in Edinburgh and is guided by fully qualified native-language teachers, committed to promoting British culture and the English language in Europe. The course has got the aim to update the participants competence and discursive skills in English. Furthermore the course includes information on the different UK education systems and also on Scotland’s culture and history. Besides new ideas, methods and materials for use in the classroom should be gained and developed. In addition the course gives the opportunity to connect and share experiences and ideas with colleagues from other European regions. Another aim of the course is to point out opportunities for the use of computers and other new medias in the foreign language classroom. Ms Scheld, who is the English teacher of the second and fourth grade and the coordinator of the eTwinning projects at our school, could further improve through this course her language competency to become an even better language model for the pupils. Furthermore our school could gain new methods, materials, ideas as well as cultural information, which could help in order to make English language teaching more interesting and authentic. That way we could in - the context of our European perspective - increase the motivation of our pupils for language learning as well as augment their interest, their understanding and awareness of other cultures and countries.
