Illustrative Skills
Start date: May 1, 2016, End date: Jan 31, 2017 PROJECT  FINISHED

There is a saying that “One picture is truly worth a 1000 words, pictures help convey realms of data efficiently” (http://ifvpcommunity.ning.com/page/who-are-we). All our partners in this project make nonformal activities in which they address numerous issues without having any prior experience to how to visually facilitate. There is a stringent need in all the partner organizations to train their youth workers in order to be able to apply basic visual facilitation techniques in the nonformal activities that they facilitate or train. From this need springs up the aim of our project, namely to organize a training course how to apply visual facilitation techniques and methods in youth work activities. The TC will take place in Navodari, Romania between 17-24 September 2016. Form each country will participate 3 youth workers from the 10 partner organizations; each national team includes one youth worker that is facing geographic, social or economic barriers. Our project has three specific objectives: I. To develop for the participants practical knowledge, competences and abilities on how to apply visual facilitation techniques and methods in youth work activities; II. To increase the capacity of the partners to organize youth activities using visual facilitation methods and techniques; III. To increase the level of efficacy of the dissemination and exploitation of results strategy within youth activities and Erasmus + through visual facilitation techniques and methods. The three specific objectives of the project will be reached through the five phases of the project:1. Introduction and getting to know each other, safety and protection measurements,2. Theoretical background and hands on experience in graphic facilitation and visual storytelling.3. Performing-visual storytelling in a work visit; 4. Discovering Erasmus + and build up of ideas for future projects5. Creation of the material for dissemination. Final evaluation and certification.During all the five phases of the TC we will extensively use nonformal education methods like: animation of the participants, games, learning by doing, reflection sessions; individual learning; active participation in group activities, graphic facilitation, visual storytelling, performing. The TC will produce impact and results by increasing participants’ knowledge, competences and skills on how to apply visual facilitation techniques and methods. Moreover, the project also contributes to increasing the capacities of all 10 partner organizations of organizing activities using visual facilitation methods and techniques. The TC will contribute in reaching a high level of professionalism in DEOR activities, especially through the manual of visual facilitation tools – a useful resource for other NGOs and youth organizations, in particular for youth leaders, youth workers, trainers and staff from NGOs.On the long run the project results are highly linked to the European Youth Strategy 2010- 2018, ensuring that all people have equal chances to high quality education and training and developing youth work and other non-formal learning opportunities (http://ec.europa.eu/youth/policy/youth_strategy/index_en.htm). By developing competences, skills, abilities and knowledge of 30 participants on how to apply visual facilitation techniques and methods in youth work activities; the project chances to high quality training and non-formal learning opportunities.
