"THE SUNFLOWER'S JOURNEY"The foster home “Il Girasole” (“The sunflower”) developed from the voluntary association working in Cinto Caomaggiore in the North East of Italy.The foster home is an educational-social service that hosts temporally until 5 children, aged from 0 to 18, removed from families that live in disadvantaged situation and are unable to support their educational tasks. This project involves a Spanish volunteer called Angela Navarra Iriarte, a young woman long term unemployed and coming from a rural area; she already served as a Short Term volunteer for 16 days in Anffas in Pordenone. We had the opportunity to meet personally and she expresses her availability to help in our project for 8 months.Angela will spend the majority of the voluntary service in the foster home with the hosted children carrying activities about everyday life and attending workshops in cooperation with Anffas. The volunteer will have a personal room in the house and, when interested, she could participate to excursions and any other planned activity.It will be guaranteed an Italian language course .The volunteer will be part of the team working within the Community Family and held some of the activities that are part of daily community life:• preparation of breakfast to children / teens in the morning• coaching in schoolwork and / or domestic child• activation of any creative workshops in the Community• organization and participation of outputs / visits / tours• accompaniment to the extra-curricular activities of children• activation of a language laboratory to learn Italian and teach their language of origin• participation in the Danceability with the community group Family in collaboration with Anffas Onlus Pordenone• participation in educational / creative / playful workshops in Anffas Pordenone, along with the minorsof the Community and the clients of AnffasOur desire is that it creates an atmosphere of warmth and well-being with the children placed and understanding and trust between volunteer and staff.Locally we hope that the presence of the volunteer might sensitize the territory on the subject of volunteering.The experience will be communicated and promoted in the various associations, families, communities of knowledge of those responsible, that revolve around the theme of foster.Both in progress and in the final phase of the project educators and leaders of the Community will carry out tests to checkif their learning goals have been met or not.The volunteer will have the space and time within which to talk and discuss with the educational team but also with the figure of an external supervisor that will help and support her in more intense and meaningful moments.
