Il prato dei fiori
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Verein M.U.T. designed the project "Il prato dei fiori" for 6 young people with special needs. The main objectives were to live and learn in a natural and uncomplicated field and to iternalise inclusion and empowerment. The learning contents were manifold and should lead to more self-confidence, self-esteem and self-dependence of the participants, so they would have better chances to get a job. The main work project was "The path of friendship". There was an old and savaged footpath between Prafiuret, where the club house of Verein M.U.T. is located, and Vanet Cavallo, an agrotourism with horses and riding stable. This footpath should be remade for tourists. The hard work in the woods and steep areas was perfect to show the participants how much power they had and how much they could achieve. In plus they learned a lot about agriculture, farming and home economics, planning and accompanying documentation, communication and teamwork. Further there were several workhops organised, for example cooking, on-the-job safety and Italian language and culture. Also the offers for free time were diversified. Sports and culture were forgrounded, but the highlight for the participants were two days at the beach in Ventimiglia. In the end the participants should organise a big party in Vanet Cavallo. There were music and dance and a big buffet with austrian and italian specialities, self made from the participants during the cooking workshop. All neighbors were invited and even the vice-mayor of Demonte, Laura Porracchia, came to establish the new footpath. She delivered a nice speech, in which she praised the participants for their good job and she lauded the beatifully representativeness of "The path of friendship". She said, that the footpath not only unites Prafiuret with Vanet Cavallo, but also people with different needs and different cultures and it unites Austria with Italy.
