It is clear, that the role of teachers in the next few years will change significantly, mainly due to the innovations and usage of ICT. Many European schools are already transforming teaching methods, in order to integrate ICT technologies and open educational resources (OER) creatively in order to promote cooperation between pupils, to use practical learning and mixed training methods, to encourage the development of new models of teaching and learning, which is abundant and varied information published on the Internet. “Romuvos” progymnasium in Siauliai, Lithuania reacts to the daily changes in the information society and seeks to educate progymnasium’s community with the latest technologies and with their help wants to diversify the educational process. Nowadays the development of information technologies poses new challenges to students and teachers. “Romuvos” progymnasium has a modern ICT base and faces with a problem of frequent and effective ICT usage in the educational process. Moreover, the teachers need to improve ICT competences and knowledge and want to know how to apply ICT for pupils with different needs and abilities and motivate them. The spread of information and communication technologies actualizes teachers' training in this area. One of the main objectives based on the SWOT analysis of the development of ICT in the educational process of the ICT program in progymnasium is to create a digital teaching (learning) infrastructure in progymnasium and to promote effective and targeted usage of digital media and mobile devices in the educational process in the same time improving pupils’ achievements and educating digital teaching (learning) culture that is coherent with the key competences and full inclusion. The implementation of the project “ICT and Open Education Resources (OER) Breakthrough in School" is based on the acquisition of best practices in usage of ICT skills in different training programs would help to achieve a burst of targeted use of ICT in the educational process in order to achieve a purposeful usage of ICT. It would contribute to the implementation of the strategic objectives in progymnasium. The implementation of the project is set up by the targeted team of the project. Participants are selected according to IT, foreign language skills, initiative, curiosity and ability to organize trainings and disseminate good experience. Selection of participants was carried out on a voluntary basis. Information about participation in this project was announced via progymnasium’s e-school diary. Everyone could express a desire to participate. There are twelve members in a project organizational group. Five of them are selected according to strong ICT, foreign language skills, initiative, curiosity, experience in training and dissemination and seven teachers are involved as less experienced teachers. Participation in teacher training courses would help to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills and disseminate the good experience gained in the courses to the community of “Romuvos” progymnasium and more widely (to the local educational communities and educational communities in Lithuania).The project would let to apply the ICT knowledge and skills in formal and non-formal education (blending them) directly and to develop teaching (learning) material and organize trainings for students and teachers, to activate teachers of different subjects to use ICT technologies and open educational resources (OER) and social media in education. Participants would also gain skills in usage of open educational resources (OER) and both types - traditional and virtual - teaching (learning) approaches, which would stimulate the development of new teaching and learning models, taking advantage of the rich sources of information available via the Internet. “Romuvos” progymnasium’s community according to acquired competences during the implementation of the project activities would start to increase the usage of ICT more efficiently and adapt education to each pupil’s individual needs. Integration of ICT-based innovations in teaching and learning activities would help to improve the digital literacy of teachers and students and to rethink the teacher's role in the educational process. The acquired competences in participating in this project would let to implement one of the main objectives of the Strategic Plan of “Romuvos” progymnasium: to develop a motivating educational environment and allow to the members of the community to gain contemporary teaching (learning) competences much more effectively. During the project it would be a great opportunity not only to deepen the existing ICT skills, but also to acquire new ones, which are necessary in order to engage and motivate pupils, share best practices with European schools, to make new contacts and become a lifelong learning European organization.
