Ik heb wat te vertellen!
Start date: Mar 1, 2015, End date: Nov 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project 'I've got something to say!' concerns the position of the individual within the representative democracy. Many of our young citizens hardly feel represented by the politicians who are at the core of our representative democracy. The main question raised is whether the system of representation is obsolete in the contemporary society. Our objective is to create a viable concept for (the implementation of) a new form of government for a United Europe that is made possible by the modern developments in communication. We are going to create this new form of government with a pluriform group of adolescents, aged 15-28, to cultivate their collaboration and expertise and to create an educational experience which can contribute to governmental innovation. An expert and a policymaker will be invited to discuss a new form of government and its implementation with the youth. A group of 30 adolescents and 3 professionals will be isolated for a week to think about a new form of government. Afterwards, a report will be written about the results of the project. This outcome will be communicated towards politicians, experts and to many other (young) citizens. The aim of this project is to contribute to a political consciousness among the participants of the project. We are hoping to achieve a more involved attitude of young citizens towards the local politics. Besides that, we are aiming for more political insight on a larger scale: national and above all European. We hope that the new form of government will lead to a better feeling of representation among citizens in the long term.
