The project “Acquire and introduce traditions and innovations of European schools” provided internships to 12 students–including 2 recent graduates–of Rezekne Art and Design Secondary School(RMDV) to visit Spain (6 students of professional education,1 accompanying person,1st flow) and Portugal (6 students of professional education, 1 accompanying person, 2nd flow) and 6 teachers with “shadowing”/observation experience in Bulgaria (3rd flow). To participate in the mobility program the participants had to go through a selection competition demonstrating their willingness to obtain professional and personal skills and reach the project goals. The overall objective of the project was to increase the level of skills and abilities in culture education in accordance with modern requirements and strengthen the quality of cooperation between the labour market and the educational institution, thus fostering the economic growth of the Latgale region and the whole country by offering innovative products for the market of the creative industry. The direct objectives of the project were as follows: 1)to develop and improve youngsters’ knowledge and skills in their chosen profession acquiring international experience in order to promote their successful integration into the labour market; 2)to develop the continuing education concept for Joint Rezekne Music, Art and Design Secondary School with the status of the vocational education competence centre to provide successful lifelong learning process in the creative industry applying good practices from abroad. The tasks of the project were as follows: -to provide access to information for the teachers and students as well as recent graduates of RMDV of the project objectives, expected results and opportunities inviting them to participate in the selection process of participants; -to provide a qualitative preparation process for the participants; -to provide internships for 12 students and recent graduates of RMDV in Spain(6 participants, 1 accompanying person) and in Portugal(6 participants, 1 accompanying person); -to provide the exchange of experience (observation and study of activities)for 6 teachers in Bulgaria; -to organize evaluation of the project participants and compilation of the results after the internship and exchange of experience; -to present the project results in a conference on the establishment of Rezekne Music, Art and Design Secondary School with the status of the competence centre for vocational education; -to make publicly available the information on the results in the media, RMDV website www.rmdv.lv and on the partner websites; -to use the gained results in the learning process of the educational institution and in the provision of continuing education in the newly established competence centre. The project was implemented from the 1st of June, 2015 till the 31st of May, 2016. In the framework of the project RMDV cooperated with 3 partners: INTERNATIONAL CONSULTING AND MOBILITY AGENCY S.L. provided the internship for the students in Sevilla Art School and design companies, Spain; APLICAPROPOSTA LDA provided internship in Braga Art School, design companies, Portugal; Bulgaria Gateway Ltd provided teachers the opportunity to exchange experience in the New Bulgarian University, National School of Fine Arts “Ilia Petrov”, High School of Applied Arts “St.Luka”. During the internship young people gained new knowledge and skills in the priority education programmes–wood design, environment and interior design, fashion and textile design and arts-obtaining new information. The teachers observed and studied further education offered in Bulgarian art schools to develop a concept for the further education required from the 1st September, 2017, when RMDV would be merged with Rezekne Music Secondary School of Janis Ivanovs, creating Rezekne Music, Art and Design Secondary School with the status of a vocational education competence centre, which would also deal with provision lifelong learning services. The participants of all flows improved their foreign language and intercultural skills. They obtained a better understanding of the European project and the EU values. It was a chance to improve self-expression and self-esteem, thus they became more active in taking part in other kinds of activities, the initiative grew as well as the motivation after the mobility experience to participate further in the formal and non-formal education or training, and greater attention was given to career opportunities. In addition to the above mentioned benefits, the participants familiarized themselves with cultural diversity of other cultures and traditions, art and design world. The partners as well as the Latvian party provided evaluation of the project participants (they received certificates). Executing partners prepared the Europass Mobility document for all participants. The project results were disseminated on the local, regional, national and international levels.
