Unemployment, especially youth unemployment, is one of the major social concerns in our continent. The lack of employment opportunities in many countries makes talk of a lost generation, is a constant in the conversations among youngsters and now more than ever there is the need to understand that the idea of getting a job for life is a decreasingly common reality and it becomes necessary to provide the people with other ways of thinking and acting. However, as consequence of the jobs crisis, more and more young are exploring an option of self-employment. Within these options gain strength cooperative models of organization based in peer collaboration and in the economy with "human face". Never before has the word entrepreneurship been so present in the daily conversations of the people and never a campaign to promote its relevance became so necessary and within the entrepreneurship in general, a very prominent and high-growth area has been the social entrepreneurship. The process of finding innovative solutions to social problems, promoting social, cultural and environmental objectives, is commonly associated with the voluntary sector and non-profit, but must not stay only in this area. However, the social economy offers an opportunity for future that is still unknown to most of young people and many of them are still unaware of the advantages of undertaking seeking not only financial performance but also social. Ideas in Action was a project which aimed to spread the concept of social entrepreneurship among young leaders and entrepreneurs from six different countries. For 7 workdays 24 young people, coming from Spain, Portugal, Italy, Poland, Romania and Greece, having different backgrounds but sharing the interest in socail entrepreneurship, gathered together, exchanging experiences and inspiration, exploring together the possibilities offered by European programs, in order to develop project ideas that could benefit the local communitty they got to know during the training, Silves, and that could be transfered to their own realities back in their countries of origins. To achieve this goal the participants learnt new concepts, methods and tools while experiencing presentations, case studies, field visits, group work and dynamics in sessions aimed at sharing ideas and translate them into concrete project ideas, which had the chance to be presented to the local communitty on the last day of activity. Altogether were developed 8 project ideas during the training, 5 focused in the local communitty of Silves (Portugal Experience; Algarvent; Fabricity; Eco-Rehabilitation and Silves Refugees Active Center) and 3 transnational projects (Breaking the Patriarchal System; Izdebki Camp and Plasticless).
