ICTEM - Integrated Counselling, Training and Employment Method

The ICTEM project plans to both develop and validate an integrated method of vocational and personal guidance to assist young unemployed people in accessing suitable vocational training and in meeting the skill demands of individual employers. This approach is expected to be used by vocational guidance counsellors in schools, colleges and employment advice centres.Based on existing knowledge and practice within the European Union, the project will initially survey skills requirements, as perceived by young unemployed people, trainers and employment advisers and will further consult existing information on the actual needs of employers. On that basis, the project will develop, pilot and validate the two-stage ICTEM method - stage one comprising individual and collective counselling, workshops on personal development, job search, communication and basic ICT, as well as tailored activities to tackle personal issues and referrals to other agencies as appropriate and stage two comprising the elaboration of individual action plans towards eventual vocational training options.A final version of the method for vocational and personal guidance will be published in manual form in EN, supported by a synoptic project report containing examples of good practice. Further evaluation of the target group will be encouraged with regard to the assessment of skills before and after the guidance intervention, and will make use of psycho-diagnostic tests and self-assessments.A promotional leaflet will be produced by the project in all partner languages, with interim and final results also being disseminated to appropriate media and through presentations to training providers and employment services in all countries. A final project conference is also planned to be held in Slovenia.
