Icelandic National Parks Conservation
Start date: May 1, 2008,

EVS Volunteers will have the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of practical conservation management in a variety of locations in Iceland. Our work is focussed on upland trail construction and maintenance. Other task include repair and maintenance on heritage sites within the parks and GPS mapping and the removal of invasive plant species (lupine) from protected wilderness areas. The EVS volunteers will work closely with international conservation volunteer teams and local UST staff on practical nature conservation projects throughout Iceland's national parks and nature reserves. EVS volunteers also work in the communities close to the Parks on conservation projects there. Our volunteers live and work in the protected areas throughout the summer. Practical training is provided and the teams are guided by experienced, trained leaders. This project directly links EVS with the management of National Parks and protected areas in Iceland. It conects EVS with important environmental protection agencies responsible for Icelands' nature protection areas.
