The 1st Laboratory Center of Giannitsa is a Secondary Education school unit providing students with initial vocational education and training. It aims at the creation of the most attractive educational environment, as much as possible, with qualitative upgrading of the educational process. Moving towards this direction, it tries to apply modern learning theories utilizing the possibilities offered by modern technology such as educational robotics. This project relates to the training of teachers and it has as objectives the acquisition of incentives for involving in robotics, science & technology, innovative actions relating to new technologies modernizing teaching and improving its quality, awareness of the value of Lifelong Learning, strengthening the sense of European citizen.At the 1st Laboratory Center of Giannitsa are working 59 teachers from three different schools. All of them are higher education graduates. Many of them have master or doctoral degree and pedagogical training. In the context of Lifelong Learning, trying to upgrade their scientific and pedagogical qualifications and given the lack of training from the organized structures of the Ministry, it is necessary the participation of 15 teachers in this program.The program includes the presentation of the theoretical background on educational robotics and the modern learning theories, learning of training package of robotics (building parts, central unit- peripherals, programming environment), creating scenarios using educational robotics, manufacturing robotic model, investigation of ways of integrating educational robotics into the curriculum.In implementation of the above activities will be followed methodologies such project method, group cooperation learning, internship and brainstorming.This project includes- as some of the expected results- the acquaintance with popular robotics platform, creating scenarios using educational robotics in combination with the application of modern learning theories.The completion of the project will have effect on strengthening of educational and pedagogical qualifications of the participants, the involvement of the sending organization in innovative actions on new technologies in European and global level.In the future we hope to raise the quality of education in our school by creating a rich interactive learning environment that encourages constructivism and integrates new technologies.
