Hydrodynamic modelling of dangerous sections of the Danube for rivel control planning

The project aimed at the planning of optimal river control interventions oncritical sections of the Danube. Dangerous bottom sections in terms of floodsand ice movement have been identified on the section of mutual interest of theDanube and optimal interventions have been determinded by way of hydrodynamicmodelling. This modelling aimed at the description of morphologic processes on thebottom as well as the prediction of the potential impacts of planned interventions. Todevelop and calibrate the model, on-the-site inspections were required including theexamination of bottom morphology, flow relations, alluvial and bottom deposits. Thecurrent project focused on two river sections near the southern border of Hungary andthe town of Solt.
