Human rights - base of Europe
Start date: Jan 1, 2016, End date: Aug 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

Youth Exchange "Human rights - base of Europe" was hosted in Djakovo, Croatia from 11. - 18. April 2016. and it gathered 42 young people, volunteers and activists from Croatia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Czech Republic, Italy, Greece and Lithuania. Today, when all the focus is on two crisis, economic and refugees crises and also on the moves that will lead to the end of crisis, often leads to violations of human rights. Because of passivity of young people and observers and also because of lack of knowledge of young people about human rights and importance of protection of human rights we organized this project in order to educate young people, provide them general knowledge about human rights and exchange the ways and methods of "fight" for human rights for everybody. We provided to young people information about human rights, documents which guarantee protection of human rights, ways of communication with other people and ways of promotion of human rights. Also, participants learned from each other how to prevent conflict situations and how to explain for what they are fighting, with arguments and materials. All skills and knowledge which participants gained during the activity they used on 6th day of the activity for street action which was held in Djakovo city center and on which participants talked with citizens, especially with young people from Djakovo and present them the reasons why they are here, giving them the flyer of the project with all objectives and information about the project, taking photos with poster of the project and also making research about situation with human rights in Djakovo, in Croatia but also in Europe in order to get opinion of citizens about it. Also, second part of research was about Erasmus+, how many young people know about Erasmus opportunities and how many young people already participated in some projects. Based on results of this research, CET platforma together with partners on this project already preparing new project proposals with which we will apply in February 2017. Programme of this Youth exchange was based on needs of participants and partner organizations which we recognized before the project but also in communication with partners and participants before activity in preparatory phase. Through activity we used numerous number of different non formal methods such as brainstorming, workshops, presentations, debates, meetings with guest speakers, discussions, silent theater, simulations and street action. Thanks to this project 48 young people from 7 different countries are educated about human rights, how to raise awareness about human rights and importance of human rights, how to organize activities regarding on topic of human rights and how to disseminate results in local community.
