Hulda, the European Sailing Festival for Culture and the Arts
Start date: May 1, 2012,

The Hulda project is an innovative travelling festival using M/S Hulda, a centennial sailing boat, as an attractive infrastructure for coordinating events bringing together artists from different cultures and domains, putting artists into cooperative interaction with each other as well as the public to draw interest for building bridges between arts, cultures and daily life. The basic concept of the project is to constitute a platform where artists from different backgrounds find the opportunity to travel and interact with their peers and publics from different cultures for diversified and 360-degree perspectives. The project mainly targets 8 destinations with shorter stopovers between these destinations. The activities include exhibitions/performances and workshops at these 8 destinations. Exhibitions will also be presented whenever possible at the intermediary stops. The project targets smaller settlements that do not normally benefit from cultural and artistic activities and anticipates the participation of individuals who do not frequently participate in cultural activities. The core of the project, the historical schooner M/S Hulda, constitutes an attractive aspect to this end. The project anticipates an exhaustive PR strategy to disseminate the information to attract the attention of the general public across Europe to intercultural exchange. A catalog will be published at the end of the project explaining about the project activities and showing the works of the resident artists, as well as their statements narrating their experience.
