This partnership between YOUNG DOGS and KIDSCAM seeks an in-depth exchange of knowledge and skills in the field of image literacy and the development of innovative, educational and artistic practices that we can apply, in this context, to our work with children and young people. The activities of both organizations focus on stimulating the curiosity of children and young people to what lives around and in them, reinforcing the possibilities and increasing their skills of expression through the use of visual language and to encourage them to communicate their vision to allow them to feel like an active and empowered participant in the current (digitized) society. YOUNG DOGS is a German organization that brings together young people from diverse social and cultural backgrounds to work on film projects, helps them to scrutinize actuality/reality, and coaches them to produce live-action documentaries. KIDSCAM is an animation studio that works with children and young people in the Dutch-speaking region of Belgium and helps them to tell their story through animated films using the stop motion technique, both in the context of education and leisure. Both organizations seek the collaboration: - to broaden their target audience: KIDSCAM works mainly with children and has been investing in the development of an offer for young people for several years. Furthermore, we want to reach more participants from socially vulnerable environments, especially concerning free time. So far, YOUNG DOGS has only worked with young people (aged 14 to 20) in their free time. Very often, they reach socially vulnerable young people. YOUNG DOGS wants to look at the possibilities of working with young children in the context of education.- exchange of methodologies, application of each other's methods with different target groups (children and young people), working together to evaluate the development of new methodologies using our experience (YOUNG DOGS works on documentaries that are closely linked to reality as it occurs - objectivity. KIDSCAM works with animation linked to fiction, fantasy, subjectivity). The mix of both genres opens the door to more expressive possibilities, which will enable young people to experiment more and provide more options to shape their story.- broaden and strengthen their international network: this makes the organization stronger, broadens horizons, and paves the way for more international and inter-cultural projects in the future. This results in a more "European mindset". - collaboration in the distribution of the films that are produced. To ensure the films of the young filmmakers are "watched'' sufficiently and their stories 'listened to", investment is required to build a strong network and good communication. To do this, we want to share, consult and collaborate between the two teams by coaching each other while we are producing the films as part of this partnership.During the partnership we are planning: Project Meetings in which we want to reflect on the above issues and share thoughts and experiences, develop new ideas, discuss applications, draw conclusions and process the data in a useful report. However, we do not want to simply work at the theoretical level. It is important that we gain experiential learning from one another, expose ourselves to the methodologies, and work together in groups in the workplace. The development of children and young people is, and will remain, our priority. Afterwards, we will reflect, evaluate and conclude at the organizational level. That's why observation training is linked to one Project Meeting and we have chosen to set up an Exchange Project for young people within the Strategic Partnership called, "Beyond Boundaries". Finally, at the end of the partnership, a lot of time and energy will be put into developing an appropriate format for the resulting methodology, possible applications, and collaboration as "good practice" in order to communicate with youth work organizations (especially those who work with vulnerable young people), the socio-cultural and artistic field, and education at the local, national and international level. In that context we are planning "presentations", with our intention being to spread the films that have been produced in the context of collaboration through digital means, together with an explanation of the process used to make them and the conclusions regarding the methodology used. We believe that intensive collaboration in the workplace and regular meetings will be necessary for the success of the project and to provide the organizations with a chance to truly grow and strengthen as well as being able to coach more children and young people to develop a broader awareness of society and to communicate their vision.
