The project in Spain improves my competence as a foreign language instructor. It allows me to familiarize myself with new teaching philosophies and learning strategies currently practiced in Spain, which have proven to be particularly helpful in teaching multilingual children. The primary goal of my stay abroad is the professional exchange with other language instructors, specifically as it pertains to reaching different student groups in order to cultivate and foster a life-long, genuine interest in foreign languages. Therefore, I will not only shadow various teachers at the host institution but also actively assist them in the classroom, which will provide me with many opportunities to immediately apply what I observe and learn. Finding new ways to teach Spanish in order to reach different groups of students is just as important as providing them with different strategies to learn a foreign language. This diversity in my teaching philosophy will inevitably raise the bar for the overall quality of my language instruction.
