HORIZONTES HACIA LA EMPLEABILIDAD
Start date: Jan 1, 2015, End date: May 1, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project ‘NEW SOURCES OF EMPLOYABILITY’ will take place in Las Rozas de Madrid (Spain) from 20th to 25th February, 2014. It is set within (K3) ERASMUS +: ‘Encounters between Youth and Policy Markers in the field of Youth’ and is a transnational seminar. It will host participants from six different countries of southern Europe such as Croatia, Greece, Portugal, Italy and Spain. It invites a total of forty young people between eighteen and thirty, plus two support staff members. The crisis that is affecting the youth in terms of employment has deeply undermined the young people and the societies in which they live. The unemployment issue among the youth is a global problem that also threatens with undermining the structure of our society itself. As a result of the growing unemployment rate among the youth, the social exclusion and the poverty levels among the young people are incrementing, and there is a generational and economic gap among them. In the recent decades, the unemployment rate among the youth has always been higher than the unemployment rate among adults. There are several reasons for this, but the most significant one is that young people often lack the necessary skills needed in order to find a job easily. The aim of this seminar is to help young people to improve their skills and create communication synergies between them and politicians. The general objective of the project is to contribute to the active participation of the young people in their communities to promote the social entrepreneurship as a model for employment (or self-employment) and, thus, raise awareness among the young people and the people responsible for youth directives about the unemployment problem in southern Europe, that clearly exceeds the average, as in Spain, with a 52 % unemployment rate. It will seek and promote a new ‘Deposit of employability’ with mobility, as southern countries are more affected by unemployment. The main objective is to work in order to create a platform that encourages reflection, exchange of ideas and experiences among young people, policy makers and other social agents, and, also, transfer proposals and claims arising in the same synergy communicative fields. The aim of all of these issues is to answer the problems of employability, concerns and aspirations of young people, and to improve their life quality. The participants will gain knowledge, they will be encouraged to develop their critical thinking skills, brainstorming, discussions and skills so that young people can face the modern democratic society, that raises new presonal rates, professional and community challenges. For all that will equip participants with knowledge, encouraging critical thinking, brainstorming, discussion and skills for young people are faced with a modern democratic society raises new personal, professional, and community challenges. We will propose a learning process that encourages creativity in young people and participation; expressing their concerns to a European society facing important challenges such as disabled employability, gender equality, tolerance, anti-racism and democratic dialogue. The meeting will take place over six days and will include the participation of various responsible organizations as Madrid-Embark, Commission of the European Parliament in Spain, Madrid Assembly Youth Council of the City of Las Rozas, etc... The program includes lectures, practical and theoretical activities, along with case studies, debates, group workshops, etc.. A space will be created through intergenerational communication between youth and political representatives for the exchange of ideas that will influence the political decision-making and on issues of European and national priority, as is unemployment, based on the fundamental principles of the Democratic State and within the European framework for youth policy. A final event will also be preformed in which the conclusions of the activity will arise, publishing a report that will be available to all participants, spreading it among politicians and other social agents.
