Hogere leerwinst in een positief anti-pest klimaat

Higher learning outcomes in a positive anti-bullying atmosphere. Our pedagogical project contains ten pillars : A school to learn A feel good school A creative school A social school A school where you learn to be independent An up to date school An inspired school A ‘green’ school A school with attention for health A school with attention for safety We found out in appraisals with our teachers that they need a new content for the pillars ‘a feel good school’ and ‘a school to learn’. Our school developed its own anti-bullying plan. We made this plan visible by a little Pepper&Salt house on the play yard. Our project is based on the no-blame method. We won in schoolyear 2005-2006 an educational prize ‘H.M. Queen Paola’. This project made bullying negotiable. Our kids learned from young age to solve their own quarrels. After all these years we feel that we require a new approach. Prevention is not so prominent. The accent was too prominent on the bullied and the bully and not enough on the entourage. The Finnish anti-bullying method ‘Kiva’ is an answer to our questions. As school we wish to accommodate the personal needs of each child. The children who have problems with the curriculum can have a limited curriculum. Children who wants more can obtain expansion. In the framework of the new M-decree (decree with measures for pupils with special needs), we wish to give special help to children with a light mental limitation or learning disability. Our teachers need more knowledge en skills. The pillar ‘a school to learn’ has to be for every child. We wish to give a high quality education. We want to achieve a higher learning outcome in a positive atmosphere. Playing by learning and learning by playing in his or her own tempo. We want to give changes to new differenciations. Teachers need new working methods, new evaluation methods and an effective use of ICT. We want to get inspired by the Finnish educational system. In our daily work we use the quality circle. As well on the level of learning process of the children as the professional learning of the teachers. We ascertain the need of improvement of the learning outcomes. We want to refresh the know-how of the teachers and need a new fresh way for the social-emotional skill. Therefore we want to use new methods (Kiva, ICT, ...). We want to learn more about the Finnish educational system. Is there a better way than to find out on the Finnish field. We would therefore like to participate to a visit to Finland, followed by a visit to our partnerschool Karamzinin. We will, as a KIVA school, be able to get familiarised with their anti-bullying programme. Accumulated theorie will then be brought to practice. We will also make practical arrangements to allow two teachers to conduct job-shadowing in Finland. They would then in return become the promoters and coordinators of the anti-bullying project in pur school.
