HLW Türnitz goes international
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project 'Compulsory Placement abroad 2015' enables pupils of HLW Türnitz a stay in another European country. 8 pupils will do a placement of 12 weeks in different hotels and restaurants in France and Ireland from June to September 2015. The participants will experience working in a real hotel in a foreign country. They get to know the different departments of a hotel (reception, restaurant, cooking, cleaning) and its organisational structures. Getting in contact with the hotel guests helps them to develop polite customer service skills. A further aim of the project is exploring the tourism industry in the respective areas. The participants visit sights and get to know the country and the inhabitants. Moreover, they improve their language skills. The stay abroad offers the opportunity for the participants to develop their personality. The school also hopes that this project encourages more pupils to take part in such activities in the following years. The second part of the project consisted of a teacher training for ten teachers of HLW Türnitz in Southern France, where the participants visited partner organisations in Cannes and Grimaud and established a first contact with a partner school in Cagnes-sur-Mer. The teachers had the opportunity to talk to their French colleagues and to meet the hotel managers of the partner organisations where students did their mandatory internships. The teachers got to know the working places of their students. They got valuable insights and ideas for the planning of future projects.
