HIJABIKSI project is planned by a group of Muslim girls. The aim of this Youth In Action –project is to break the prejudices towards head scarfs (hijabs). The project type is national youth initiative. The project lasts for 12 months (365 days) and it will be from 1.1.2014 till 31.12.2014. Our theme is hijab awareness. We want to organize an outdoor event in Turku city center where we have assembled a tent with a small photo booth. The bypassers may ask questions and they also have a chance to try on the hijab and take a picture when wearing it. The biggest aspiration is to increase awareness of hijab and create social cohesion feeling between society and different cultures.The implementation starts by writing a blog where we will add a lot of pictures and our own writings. The approach is humorous and at the same time very informative. We start writing the blog in the beginning of February 2014 and the actual event is placed on one Saturday in May 2014. The event is located in Turku’s busiest pedestrian street. We will continue writing the blog after the event until November 2014. There are approximately 25 young females featuring the project. When planning the project everyone has a chance to use their creativity in photographing, styling hijabs and executing the blog.We will advertise our event via Social media, posters around the city and sending emails to different associations. We try to get some visibility with the help of media. We will reference Youth In Action (CIMO) in all our posters and stands.
