Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The project concerned the mobility of students and staff from the Eugeniusz Geppert Academy of Art and Design in Wroclaw in the frames of the signed bilateral agreements with higher education institutions awarded the Erasmus Charter for Higher Education for the academic year 2015/2016. There were 33 student mobilities for studies and 18 student mobilities for traneeships carried out; they concerned every level of studies. In the case of traineeships, mobilities of graduates were also realized. The directions represented by the participants of student mobility were diverse and reflected the wide range of majors offered by our institution, from fine arts through design in its various meanings to media, interdisciplinary and art humanistic directions. In the frames of the above-mentioned project the Academy realized mobilities of staff members, as well. 15 members of didactic staff carried out mobilities to partner universities for teaching purposes, as well as 4 members of administration staff – in order to broaden their knowledge connected with the tasks carried out in the Academy. When it comes to the administration staff, these were persons closely connected with the realization of the Erasmus + Programme, i.e. the employee of the International Office and the employee of the financial department as well as the lawyer employed in our HEI. Their competences, increased as a result of the mobilities, were directly transferred to the efficient realization of the tasks connected with the participation in the Erasmus + Programme. The teaching staff mobilities were met with great interest, which proves awareness of the benefits resulting from them: increased competences, initiating co-operations, promotion of the scientific and artistic output of the Academy in Wrocław. The majority of the participants were women. In the case of students it is understandable, as it results from the fact that the majority of students at our Academy are female (79%). In the case of staff, the principle of equal treatment was followed and the low number of the male participants resulted exclusively from the low number of men applying for mobilities. The staff at the International Office do not feel entitled to explain such status quo. In the year of the report the gender relation improved, however, the employees at the International Relations Office do not think they had, and have any influence upon these results. The realized mobilities, both of students and staff members, besides personal benefits of the participants, made it possible to maintain contacts with partner universities, lending a real dimension to the signed agreements, created a basis for planning cooperation on other planes (workshops, exhibitions, joint studies, exchange of experiences), were an inspiration to make attempts at improving the functioning of the Academy in the factual and organizational realm. The receiving countries of mobilities represented different parts of Europe, which complies with the strategy of our institution. Especially when it comes to student mobility for studying and staff mobility, we are interested in staying in touch with different partners, with which we have signed agreements, with special regard to the neighbour countries and universities, with which activities have been carried out beyond the Erasmus + Programme. Student traineeships were also realized in many European countries, which to a greater extent depended on the participant’s interests, but also on the organization that accepted him/her. The participation in the Project made it possible to realize the Academy’s mission, which includes, among others, taking on the role of an artistic and research centre in the region, in the area of art and design, ensuring access to artistic workshop, running activities aimed at realization of artistic and scientific purposes of students and faculty members. The Academy’s strategy is aimed at constant improvement of the level of teaching, as well as artistic and scientific activeness, while internationalization achieved, among others, through mobilities, is a means to reach this end. The realization of the Project in the academic year 2015/2016 was an important part of fulfilling the strategic aims of the Academy. In the year of the report the mobilities were also realized by students of other nationalities than Polish, as well as part-time students, who were treated on an equal basis with the Polish and full-time students. A general increase in mobilities was observed, especially in the field of student mobility for studies and administration staff. The yearly aims of the project were fulfilled almost in 100%.The Erasmus+ Progamme helps to realize such long-term strategic aims as: launching study courses in English, organizing summer schools, workshops and art residencies, obtaining financial resources to enhance the level of education, enhancement of competences, organizing new directions of studies.
