Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The SSML San Domenico International Campus, Higher Education, i.e. High School for Interpreters and Translators, was established in 2011 and therefore it could apply in 2014 for the Erasmus+ Call, first as member of the Consortium SuedNord and then, for the accreditation of the ECHE and, the year after, once obtained the ECHE, it started the activities of mobilities. Even though the San Domenico is still a small institution, it has been adopting from the first beginning the international criteria to be in the European Education system as partener and as active proposer of European projects. Furthermore it belives in the great opportunity to develope an international network both for students and staff within the EU Countries. In fact, the Erasmus Programme gives both students and staff the opportunity to realize a practical training, in fact students can enlarge their theoretical knowledge thanks to practical experience and staff can update their competences. As mediation means helping people to understand each other, if they speak different languages, the possibility given from the Erasmus to stay as students abroad help them to better understanding other cultures and to improving foreign languages. Furtheremore the opportunity to study in a different country means to be aware of other educational systems, methods and vocational trainings; this offers also another opportunity that may be to continue their studies abroad for the second cycle or later to work in an international mileau. As institute at academic level for the course of study in foreign languages with specialization in fields such as tourism and management(European languages and other such as e.g.: Arabic, Chinese, Russian), and with a specific sub-area which examines in depth special jargons and professional methods for interpreters and translators. Nowadays the SSML SanDomenico counts about a hundred students splitted into first and second cycle (master degree or specialization). Our istitution appreciates much that part of them have the opportunity to receive a grant for staying abroad thanks to the Erasmus Plus Programme. Who chooses this vocational education is not only aware of the multicultural context but also eager to know other countries and different social situations. The opportunity given thanks the new Erasmus Plus grants to be able as trainee to make an experience in a association, institution, firm, abroad is of utmost importance. The grant they receive is another aspect that the students see very favourable, it helps them to be almost independent from the family in a real work situation. In this the first year most of them did catch this opportunity and gave an important feed-back to their colleagues, who were curious to hear about the possibility to participate in the programme. Our Erasmus office is daily very active in sharing information about the programme, as a matter of fact although all our constant engagement (personal and open meetings, info-days, emails and up-dating of our social, news letters and personal meetings), we can consider that the peer to peer communication is more effective. The results obtained show a growing interest from both students and teacher/staff to apply for an Erasmus Grant. Thanks to our membership in the Consortium SuedNord our institution has the opportunity to use its international network for the mobilities for traineeship in order to don't disappoint the expectations of the students. The total number of participants during this year are 13: 6 mobilities for students and 7 mobilities for staff. Since this is the first year for our institution for the execution of the Erasmus Project and we did not manage to establish interinstitutional agreements , we managed to complete a high number of mobilities. 6 students has applied for a mobility for traineeship and 7 Teachers/academic staff has applied for a staff mobility for training.
