Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2015, End date: Sep 30, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

IPI trains people in charge of production units, middle operations and industrial strategy managers to meet the needs of French and European industries faced with permanent international competition. International markets and their ever changing factors (technical work rescheduling human/ social management) have had a significant impact on the development of the qualifications and skills required for supervising staff. Faced with these developments, IPI is engaged in highly competitive employability, skills development and an adaptation policy for its future production managers in Europe. The development strategy for an international teaching system is being gradually implemented due to our permanent closeness to industry and is strengthened by our activity in central European countries. In 2015/2016, IPI has offered 9 students, internship mobility (6 students achieved this in 2014/2015). Initially, qualified with an industrial or scientific university diploma or degree, they have done a three-month internship in European industries to manage tasks that are primarily oriented towards industrial excellence brought on by improving the performance of industrial production systems. They thus develop their knowledge of technological and methodological tools in a multicultural environment while improving their language skills. They also develop their adaptability and their resistance to change by dealing with other organisations and passing their knowledge of French organisational principles on to them. For the host company, feedback confirms there is structural enrichment and a direct impact on production results : improvements in productivity and product quality. For students, the experience of mobility in previous years also saw an improvement in individual competitiveness since 80 % of participants have found a supervisory job in industries in Europe and the rest of the world (Asia, South America, Africa). For IPI, exposure to an industrial culture other than the French one, nurtures academic training and contributes to strenghthening and consolidating links within an international unit, between business and higher education. In tandem with this, our students also benefit from study mobility at the International Faculty of Engineering (IFE) in Lodz in Poland where they follow courses primarily in English, which are transferable through the ECTS system on the IPI program. 7 students have undertaken a study mobility in 2015/2016 (6 students achieved this in 2014/2015). Our bilateral agreement with the IFE in Lodz, in Poland has also been strengthened by partnership organised activities in 2016. Our aim for the students has been to bring companies based in Poland and in higher education closer together: visits to industrial sites, conferences/talks on industrial strategy, supply chain, meetings with company C.E.O.s and H.R. Directors who explain the interest of having industrial managerial skills at an international level. These results enabled IPI to initiate a first administrative mobility with our Polish university partner. Finally, our bilateral agreement has equally allowed us to welcome an incoming polish student. This integration has been implemented into ALBEA CORPORATE’s European industrial pilot project. Due to the project’s success, IPI is in the process of setting up a new venture with a German university. This will allow us to reinforce our presence in an ever increasing German industrial economic market.
