Higher education student and staff mobility project

“Mobility Project for Higher Education Students and Staff” implemented by SGH Warsaw School of Economics (hereinafter called: SGH) in the framework of Erasmus +, Action 1, included student mobility for studies and placements as well as teaching and training mobilities of academic and administrative staff. The subject areas, within which the mobilities were carried out were broadly defined economic sciences and management. The aim of the project was: - to support the international mobility of students and academic and administrative staff of SGH, - to give the project participants access to international experiences and getting to know new cultural environment, as part of their personal and academic development, - to develop knowledge as well as competence and professional skills which will widen participants’ possibilities on labour markets, - to build strong and effective partnerships with universities participating in the programme and to create a basis for the development of new forms of cooperation between universities, - internationalization of SGH environment. Within the project SGH has was carried out a total of 466 mobilities, including: - mobilities for studies – 384 students (including 188 students of the 1st level of studies, 194 students of 2nd the second level of studies and level 2 students of the 3rd level of studies) - mobilities for traineeships – 39 students (including 8 students of the 1st level of studies, 28 students of the 3rd level of studies and 3 recent graduates) - staff training mobilities – 20 (including 9 academics) - teaching mobilities – 23. Students could carry out mobilities for studies in one of the 171 partner universities in areas related to the fields of study carried out by them in SGH. It was also possible to take additional courses related to the individual interests of students, which were recognised as electives. Traineeships were carried out either as mandatory or voluntary elements of the program of study, depending on the major done at SGH. Administrative and faculty staff participated in organized staff training events or job shadowing visits. Academics within staff teaching mobilities carried out lectures, seminars and workshops for students from partner institutions at all three levels of study. The objectives of the project, including quantitative ones which were described in the financial agreement have been reached. The project has visibly and permanently influenced the changes taking place within the university, as well as the perception of the university by the external environment. Project’s following results and impact relate to both individual beneficiaries of the program and the Warsaw School of Economics as a whole: - bigger than in financial agreement number of mobilities carried out (131 more), - all interested and meeting eligibility criteria students received a chance to study abroad for 1 semester / year at a partner university, - international, multicultural environment has been created at SGH due to the presence of foreign faculty members and 299 Erasmus students, who came to SGH within the period of the project. - new skills and work experience of staff is used in the process of modernization of university and the development of teaching methods, - the attractiveness SGH graduates increases on the labour market thanks to gaining international experience and inter-cultural competences - project participants have strengthened existing or made new research contacts, which resulted in increased number of international publications, research and educational projects, including the negotiations on establishment of 3 new double degree programs - the position of SGH in the international environment as well as its teaching and research offer’ promotion has been strengthened both in Poland and the EU, as well as outside of Europe.
