Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

In its first year, Erasmus+ suffered from imperfections inherent in the commencement of the new programme: change in the method of funding the mobilities after the beginning of the Erasmus+ academic year; several versions of the Learning Agreement, belated delivery of basic requirements for the Grant Agreement after the start of the academic year, unclear issues of funding staff mobility, conclusion of new agreements, initially limited functions of new applications (Mobility Tool a OLS). Despite the above shortcomings, MENDELU succeeded in substantially increasing the number of (mainly student) mobilities, thanks to the support and promotion of Erasmus+ as well as interest of students in the programme. In the academic year 2014/15, 248 students left for a study period, 90 students for a traineeship, 74 members of the academic staff went to teach and 23 employees participated in the training abroad. In the course of the academic year, we prepared methodology for the respective types of mobilities and the directive on recognition of results of study and traineeships abroad within Erasmus+ in order to ensure a consistent and transparent method of recognition of Erasmus+ international mobility. At MENDELU, the Erasmus+ programme was promoted through Erasmus+ Days, where we informed students of possibilities and conditions of their participation in study periods, presentations of students themselves, organization of orientation sessions for outgoing students, regular updates of the website, support for the ISC – International Student Club at MENDELU, provision of high-quality assistance to incoming students, and support for teacher and staff mobility. International cooperation was promoted through active participation in conferences abroad, where we further developed the existing cooperation and established new contacts. Examples of advanced cooperation include two offers from Finnish universities to jointly work on double-degree study programmes (OULU, HAMK). Häme University of Applied Sciences (HAMK) chose MENDELU as one of its strategic partners for cooperation not only in the area of mobilities, but also in science, research and other spheres of international cooperation.
