Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: May 31, 2016 PROJECT  FINISHED

The Ecole d‘Ingénieurs de PURPAN has a long-lasting strategy to send students abroad on a compulsory basis, at least twice during their 5 year studies. The first time they go abroad, they intern at least 12 weeks in an English speaking country. This internship aims at validating a B2 level in English, measured by a minimum TOEIC SCORE of 785. Only students who are bilingual can go elsewhere. The second aim is to understand agriculture in other countries and to be confronted to cultural differences, at an early stage. From 187 students of the 2014-2015 cohort, 62 left for European destinations, and among them only 26 did get an Erasmus + scholarship. 125 students carried out their internship in North America and in Oceania. The second opportunity takes place in 4th year, for a semester of studies within a Partner University. In this case, the students get scholarships under a different ERAMUS + project (consortium ANGERS 08). Some students do another internship abroad for their 6 month End of Study Master thesis. In 2014-2015, none of those students received an ERASMUS + scholarship. PURPAN is trying to help the biggest possible number of students through the ERAMUS + project, so that they chose to stay in EUROPE. Nevertheless, the students have no choice and they have to undertake those scholarships, with or without this financial help. The ERAMUS + scholarships are a precious help for some selected students. The long term benefits are mainly the validation of the B2 level in English that is expected to graduate from their “Ingénieur” degree, an introduction to a multicultural environment and a knowledge of EUROPE that opens new geographical options when they start to work.
