Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

Our school of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, founded in 1991, has had since the beginning a very strong international vocation, organizing extracurricular traineeships, paid or unpaid, for students and graduates in Europe and Latin America above all. On the contrary, study mobilities abroad have always been hampered by the peculiarities of our academic discipline, very diverse in Europe and with very different academic structures. In addition, the character of arts education, in Spain partially outside the university (our case), makes the problem even more complicated. Our goal has been to adapt our previous experience to this new Erasmus+ context to solve these problems and at same time make the best of our peculiarities, Another goal was to develop and encourage scientific research among teachers and facilitate an easier access to job opportunities abroad for our graduates. In general, the objectives were almost fully achieved. We have managed to overcome our difficulties in developing Erasmus+ studios, with two outgoing students (Portugal and France) and two incoming students (Portugal, both). At the same time, we managed to continue our strong tradition of traineeships with six mobilities in Portugal (3), Malta, Norway and Italy, in public and private institutions. Staff mobility was represented with a unique learning mobility (UK), which we expect to increase in coming years. The selection criteria for participants were the academic curriculum and the priority for ECTS generating activities, instead of extracurricular traineeships. In general, neither we nor the host institution have been too demanding with linguistic accreditation, although the general language level had to be fair: mobilities were completed with full success, demonstrating our criteria were correct. The results and impact have been really positive. Given our very small size, the percentage of students benefit is very high. On the other hand, some of the most successful mobilities have generated significant agreements that will result in long-term relationships. In particular, this success encourages students to increase the number of mobilities and encourages our school to seek other Erasmus+ projects. In particular, next years we will be looking for mobilities with partner countries and a future KA2 project with some institutions involved this year.
