Higher education student and staff mobility project
Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This mobility project has been carried out by our partners in Florence (Italy), the Vocational Training School IIS Leonardo Da Vinci, with whom we have been collaborating for over 10 years, sending students to their school and placing them in companies in the sector of heating and cooling facilities. The goals of these experiences, as they appear in our Erasmus Charter are: To improve foreign language skills and self-development of our students, increasing sensitivity, curiosity and respect for other cultures and countries. To improve the quality of our higher-level Vocational Training Education and therefore the hands-on experience of our future professionals, helping to get a better expertise in installations of different magnitude to those found in Menorca. Provide an European approach to the skills acquired by our students in Menorca, participating and contributing to the strengthening of the European Higher Education Area. Strengthening, as well, the sense of global citizenship among our professionals, improving social cohesion and intercultural dialogue on our island. To train our professionals for future technical and organizational changes in our industry, constantly evolving, encouraging the exchange of relevant information of our profession. Promote the implementation of sustainable energy development in Menorca as it is held in other European countries with more advanced technologies. The project consisted of 1 student mobility addressed to one of our students in 2nd course Higher Education Vocational Training "Technician in maintenance of thermal and fluid facilities", as part of the job-training period. The student worked in a Italian company, located in Florence, Idrogas SRL, dedicated to heating and air conditioning facilities. The student selection criteria were based on their academic record, (average of first-year academic record together with the assessment of the first term of the second year) and the suitability of the student for the required profile from the company. Mobility took place from April to June 2015, during 2 months. The activities carried out, were the following: 1. Contact our partner ISIS Leonardo de Vinci of Florence (Italy) who informed us about his availability for our students and looked for a company for the duration of the placement proposed. 2. Call for students and student selection. 3. Linguistic and cultural preparation of the selected student: OLS Italian language course. 4. Document Management project: signing of agreements, training programs and company certificates. 5. Stay in Florence for 8 weeks by Alejandro Fuertes Pons during the dates of 04/13/15 to 12/06/15. 6. Document management Project closure: sending of the interim report on 04.28.15 and final report with this form. The project's impact has clearly been positive for all parties both to motivate the student and for our institution . The student has come back with a high level of satisfaction with the experience, showing determination to finish his studies and settle in the profession, being a role model for future students. As far as our school is concerned, we have once again strengthened our ties with IIS Leonardo Da Vinci, so that this project formed part of an inter-visit with other funds from Erasmus + project, constituting a committee of two teachers and two students visiting Florence, with highly positive results. Moreover, the host company's satisfaction was again really high, concerning the job performed by our students.
