Start date: Jun 1, 2014, End date: Sep 30, 2015 PROJECT  FINISHED

This project belongs to Erasmus+ KA1 - Learning Mobility of individuals for higher education student and staff mobility between programme countries. Some of the specific objectives pursued by the Erasmus+ Programme in the field of education and training that were met by this mobility project were: improved level of key competences and skills, with particular regard to their relevance for the labour market especially in the case of Erasmus placements, further internationalization at the level of education and training institutions, , improvement in the the teaching and learning of languages especially by the use of the OLS tool. For the academic year 2014-2015 the University of Cyprus applied for 180 outgoing students for studies, 80 for placements, 15 academics for teaching staff exchanges and 25 members of administrative staff for training. The National Agency approved funding for 170 students for studies (SMS), 65 students for placements (SMT), 14 members of academic staff (STA) for teaching and 25 members of staff for training (STT). There was one amendment during the academic year which increased the funding for the SMS and SMT categories, while the funding for the STA and STT category remained the same. In Student Mobility (SMS) there has been no change in the number of outgoing students of the University of Cyprus compared to the previous academic year 2013-2014. This is due to many factors but mainly due to the students themselves who are not very decisive about taking part in the programme. In the academic year 2004-2005, 62 outgoing students were exchanged; the number has doubled to 102 in 2005-2006 and reached 96 in the academic year 2006-2007. The number reached 109 in the year 2007-2008. In 2008-2009 the number went up to 116 while in the academic year 2009-2010 the number went up to 126. In the Academic year 2010-2011 the number increased to 175 students. In the academic year 2011-2012 there was a decrease in the number of students with the number reaching 146. In the academic year 2012-2013 the number of outgoing students went up to 178. In the academic year 2013-2014 the number of outgoing students who expressed their interest to participate was 303, out of which 245 were approved by the various departments. After withdrawal by students for various reasons the final number of participants dropped down to 179. In the academic year 2014-2015 the number of outgoing students who expressed their interest to participate was 321, out of which 209 were approved by the various departments. After withdrawal by students for various reasons the final number of participants dropped down to 178. As far as the incoming students are concerned it should be noted that this number increased considerably despite the fact that the University of Cyprus is a Greek speaking university. In the academic year 2006-2007 the number of incoming students increased to 84 from 53 in the academic year 2005-2006, while in the academic year 2007-2008 the number reached to 96. In the academic year 2008-2009 the number was 95 while in 2009-2010 the number went up to 111. In 2010-2011 the number went up to 134. In 2011-2012 the number increased further and reached a high of 168 students. In the academic year 2012-2013 the number of incoming students went up to 177. In the academic year 2013-2014 the number of incoming students dropped to 170. In the academic year 2014-2015 the number of incoming students went up to 189. In the case of Erasmus placements the number of students who expressed interest to participate was 119. Many of these students did not manage to find suitable placements, some withdrew their application for various reasons and the number dropped down to 59. This number is very near the original number approved by the National Agency (65) and for this reason there has been an amendment in the original contract for additional funding in the SMT category. The members of the academic staff who participated in the Programme in the academic year 2010-2011 were 9 and in the academic year 2011-2012 10 due to limitations in the funding. In the academic year 2013-2014 the total number of academic staff participating in teaching assignments was 14.In the academic year 2014-2015 the total number of academic staff participating in teaching assignments was 13.
